Does the Orb need to be installed on a flat roof?
keyboard_arrow_downNo, the Orb can be installed on almost any roof.
How are they installed on a roof?
keyboard_arrow_downBecause every roof is different, installation will vary depending on location.
How does it get connected?
keyboard_arrow_downThe Orb has a behind the meter connection meaning that we tailor your connection to best fit your location. Our turbine has the option to connect directly to the grid or tie into a preexisting energy storage solution.
Is there a safety feature to prevent someone from getting hurt while it spins?
keyboard_arrow_downThe Orb employs a industry standard lock out tag out system that brings the blade to a stop when there is work being done in the vicinity of the unit. We also employ local and remote emergency stop functionality, and automatic power throttling to prevent damage to your turbine during storms.
Can we use it on a building that already has solar?
keyboard_arrow_downYes! The Orb works great in conjunction with solar providing more renewable energy to your building.
What is the lifespan of one turbine?
keyboard_arrow_downEach unit should function between 20-25 years but our modular design enables any part to be swapped out with minimal effort ensuring optimal performance.
How much CO2 does one Orb Offset in a year?
keyboard_arrow_downEach turbine will be able to offset approximately 9.3 metric tons of CO2 per year
What is the minimum wind speed necessary to generate energy?
keyboard_arrow_down4 m/s
Does it have a maximum wind speed?
keyboard_arrow_down33 m/s CAT 1 hurricane speeds
Is there a safety switch if it reaches maximum wind speeds?
keyboard_arrow_downThere is a speed limit (33 m/s CAT 1 hurricane speeds) threshold enable on our system to enable an emergency brake to prevent it from damaging the system
Does it have to be installed at a minimum height?
keyboard_arrow_downThere is no minimum height requirement that is needed for our turbine, since it has a low start-up torque, the minimum speed needed to make the unit effective is 4-8 mph wind. Ideally the location of the unit should have no obstructions around the general vicinity (5 m diameter)
